Detail of the Norwegian Forest Cat Pastel painting.
It is difficult to resist when those eyes are begging to go
outside for a little while at night!

I just finished this painting of my Norwegian Forest cat.
This is Pastel on Canson Pastel Paper.
It was a real pleasure to paint it, and I am pretty happy with the results.
The eyes, the eyes that's what I love the most in my Misu!
But the most difficult thing to render, the mane!!!
Well, I put this original feline portrait up for sale on eBay.
I'm going to miss it when is gone.
This painting is an 8" x 10" on a 9 x 12 Pastel Paper

Can a single pear remind you of a Flamenco dancer?
Well, I just finished this oil painting and I can help to think of a Flamenco dancer
when I look at it, why? I do not know.
Maybe the colors or the swirls...
in any event you are welcome to leave comments!

by the way this is available at ebay, just follow the link,

I absolutely love my Norwegian Forest Cat.
He is the most gentle, patient and loving cat we have.
We also own a domestic shot hair, CORRECTION, CORRECTION,
we are owned by a domestic short hair. She is into everything, demanding and temperamental.
(Please if you are a male refrain from making smart remark about gender)
So it was a pleasure painting this sort of mixed media portrait of Misu.
Is watercolors finished with pastel for a 3D punch.

SOLD
Original is available on ebay, just follow this link:

Well, this is the finish work. I trimmed to fit 6x4 format. One thing that I think is a shame is how different the color are between real life and what you see in the computer.

SOLD
This painting is available on eBay the colors look very cool on eBay.

Pastel on mat board "Black Grapes on Glass Bowl" step by step

The truth is that a little fixative goes a long ways in improves the ability of matboard to hold the layer of pastel. You have to be judicious because it will darken and destroy the lighter colors.

Pastel on mat board "Black Grapes on Glass Bowl" step by step

I decided to bring some of the color on the grapes to the background and ties the b\foreground to background.

I like to start with the background since the color surrounding the subject has such a great influence on the subject color.

Some say beer make you shmart, what do think?

This is also pastel on acid free mat board. Because of the light substrate the colors
are brighter and it was less work.

This is up for grabs on eBay. Just click on the following link:

Thank goodness for soft pastel!! the only thing is that  the mat board's surfaces gets filled easily. So a little fixative is in other.
You have to be sooo careful, fixative darkens and kills the more delicate hues. So you have to go over the lighter areas.

Pastel on black mat board, what a wonderful idea!
I wanted this pair to really sign and jump! I thought that the read would really stand out of the black substrate, but I guess is was not going to be as easy as I thought.

I love the romantic, dreamy quality of extreme macros like this one.
I am helpless in love with this gold heart. It has tiny diamonds that reflect those lovely highlights
My old Pentax manual lens has the hexagonal shape when it renders highlights.
I love that!
