CANON 24-105MM L f4 vs SIGMA 70-300 DL MACRO SUPER vs SOLIGOR 100-300 VINTAGE LENS

NOW I am not a professional, I have no fancy testing equipment. I just have two cameras, three lenses and a Manfrotto tripod.
So I place the tripod in front to a window facing the park and set then cameras carefully by turn on the tripod.

Cameras were set to similar setting:
ISO: 100
F8
EXPOSURE: MANUAL
METERING MODE: SPOT
WHITE BALANCE: AUTO
EXPOSURE TIME: 1/350
FOCAL LENGHT: about 100mm

Here are the results!
1st lens (Canon 24-105mm L f4. lens)

Canon 5DII with Canon 24-105mm L f4. lens.
(Used on eBay $450 to $750)
ISO: 100
F8
EXPOSURE: MANUAL
METERING MODE: SPOT

FOCAL PI\OINT SET ON SIGN WITH RED LETTERS ON THE RIGHT
WHITE BALANCE: AUTO

This is a 100% cropped in Photoshop.
No corrections applied.
2nd lens (Sigma DL Macro Super 70-300mm f4)

Pentax K20D with Sigma DL Macro Super 70-300mm. f4
(Used on eBay $60 to $150)
ISO: 100

3rd Lens (Soligor 100-300mm Macro f5)

Pentax K20D with Soligor 100-300mm Macro f5.
(Used on eBay $50 to $100)

ISO: 100
F8
EXPOSURE: MANUAL
METERING MODE: SPOT
FOCAL PI\OINT SET ON SIGN WITH RED LETTERS ON THE RIGHT
WHITE BALANCE: AUTO
EXPOSURE TIME: 1/350

FOCAL LENGHT: about 100mm

This is a 100% cropped in Photoshop.
No corrections applied.

This is pretty amazing in my estimation! Of course not all aperture, speed or focal length were compared. So this is very limited in scope. Nevertheless is real world, real time, real everything test.
But I am sure that if the images were color balance and sharpened in Photoshop the difference would be small to say the least.
Is a matter of fact I will do that next and posted here! Stay toned!!

HERE IT IS!!!!!
The Sigma and Soligor photos have being sharpened and color balanced to look like the Canon.
They were sharpened and balance by the same amount (I just copy and pasted values between files)

#1
Sigma 70-300mm DL Macro Super

#2
Soligor 100-300mm Macro f5
(even at f8 the Soligor has a nice slight bokeh)

Do you think that with the availability of Photoshop and money in short supply
is necessary to spend a fortune for professional looking photos?
I guess big egos get the best of us. Who does not want to walk around with an L
lens around his neck?
It is more about making a statement that real necessity.
Do you need a Ferrari to get from point A to point B?

Visual Paradox SERIES #2

I have several pieces under this SERIES. I was a lot of fun to create these very
evocative pieces.
This is number 2 in the series. It was a joy to shoot Lower Manhattan building and bay from the Staten Island Ferry itself.

Visual Paradox: Carte Postale SERIES

I love the visual paradox! This is a comtemporary Lower Manhattan UrbanScape, but it has being treated to look turn of the century.
In my estimation this treatment imparts a gentle, peaceful and calming effect on otherwise frantic metropolis.

Shabby Chic, Old Rusty Skeleton Keys.

Shabby Chic, Old Rusty Keys that speak of a bygone era. To me they are beautiful, enchanting.
I love the bokeh in this shot. I used my trusty Pentax K20d fitted with a vintage lens. I have several and I think this was the Super Takumar 50mm.
